Longwood
The village is on the north side of the Colne Valley and also in the valley of Longwood Brook.
Longwood Edge is a ridge above the Longwood Brook valley which separates Longwood from Salendine Nook on the plateau above.
Nab End Tower is a stone tower built in 1861 at the end of Longwood Edge. The top of the tower can be accessed by the public by steps up its side and offers splendid views across the Colne Valley.
Just below the tower is an open amphitheatre which has been used to stage an annual Longwood Sing.
The area had large woollen mills, but these have mostly been demolished or converted to residential use in recent years.
Longwood is also the location of what were Huddersfield's earliest water supply reservoirs, fed by springs on Nettleton Hill. After an 1827 Act of Parliament and public subscription, the Longwood Brook was first dammed to create a reservoir to maintain supply to the local mill owners before a new reservoir to supply the town was completed in 1829. A second reservoir was added in 1848.

Longwood Mechanics Hall, in Longwood Gate, is a Victorian building held in trust by the Longwood Village Group. It provides a venue for community events, quiz nights, coffee mornings, knit and natter, table tennis, dancing, pilates and zumba classes and offers a stage for local drama productions.

St Mark the Evangelist Church, Longwood, is in St Mark's Road. It was built around 1875 with the tower added around 1915. A west window was added after World War I and dedicated in 1922 to those who died in the war. St Mark's Church, LongwoodParkwood Methodist Church was in Parkwood Road, near the junction with Grove Street. It was built in 1869 and extended in 1899. The church was closed in 2019 and its services have now moved to St Mark's Parish Centre, Thornhill Road.
