Bradford reaches final four in selection process for UK City of Culture 2025 March 21, 2022

The four locations were approved by the Government's Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries based on independent advice from a panel of experts.

The finalists were whittled down from a record twenty initial bids, this year including some county-sized authorities as well as cities.

Among Bradford's cultural attractions are the National Science and Media Museum, the Alhambra Theatre and St George's Hall concert hall, and elsewhere in the Bradford metropolitan district are the Brontë Parsonage Museum at Haworth and the UNESCO World Heritage Site at the Saltaire industrial village.

Romaldkirk, a Yorkshire village in the Durham County Council areaThe three other contenders are Southampton, Wrexham and the Durham County Council unitary authority area. The latter also includes a part of historic Yorkshire, an area of Teesdale south of the River Tees which used to be part of the North Riding.
