Rail stations within an hour

Information below is based on the May 2018 timetable. A new timetable came into operation on Sunday December 9, 2018. See our Rail changes page for details.
Huddersfield is surprisingly well connected by train services. Around 100 other stations can be reached within an hour from the town.

The places listed below can be reached within an hour. As a result of May timetable changes some stations have dropped from the list while others have been added. This is partly due to the fastest TransPennine Express trains heading to Manchester Victoria station in north Manchester while the services heading for Manchester Piccadilly in south Manchester are either the slowing stopping services or those making a circuit of the Manchester stations before arriving there. There are other time increases resulting from poor connection times upon arriving faster at main stations.

Direct links are in capitals and letters in brackets indicate where to change. A station key is at the end of the page. Sometimes there are alternate direct and indirect services. Times shown are in minutes. Typical times are only for general guidance and based mainly on weekday daytime outbound journeys. There are links to other sites offering live travel information and details for specific trains at end of this page.

Travel tip: Passengers heading to destinations in the Wakefield district of West Yorkshire or in South Yorkshire are particularly advised to check their route as express trains and a focus on Leeds in transport planning means the quickest route is often via Leeds and not that which appears to be the most direct on rail maps. However, bear in mind that trains to Leeds are sometimes congested and changing trains between different platforms at Leeds can take longer than changing trains at smaller stations.
Please check timetables or with rail operators for full and up-to-date details. This travel study is provided for general guidance.
