Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, our meetings have been suspended since March 2020.
This continues into 2021 with still no possility of our meetings being able to resume in the forseeable future, but we do have better hopes as we move on into this new year.
Although we are not currently meeting, you can watch a few of our past films from some of our members who use online streaming services. Films
Welcome to Huddersfield Film Makers Club, a friendly group of film-making enthusiasts who hold regular meetings to watch films, hear talks, share tips, embark on practical projects and discuss everything about film or video making. When we are able to hold meetings they are at the Paddock Institute and Conservative Club on two Thursday evenings of most months at 7.30pm. Our programme includes a varied selection of evenings of films, competitions and film-making activities. We welcome potential new members. Meetings
We enjoy making films
Members have a wide range of film-making interests, from drama to comedy, documentary to travel, sci-fi to animation and music to experimental films. We always welcome new ideas. We're also proud of the club's annual magazine film which over many years built-up into a historic archive of events in the Huddersfield area. Just a small selection of members' work can be viewed on our films page. We hope we will soon be able to again enjoy these and newer films at their best on the big screen at club meetings. Films
Filming the town
Since 1932, members have recorded important local events. Many have been shown in our magazine film finale at our Festival of Film public show at Huddersfield Town Hall each November. Sadly our 2019 event was our last there and we thank our audiences for years of support. We will continue to provide shows to local organisations.
Our annual awards
Members like a competition and appreciate the comments of other talented film-makers. Each year members can have their films judged by a film-maker from outside the club with the chance of glittering trophies at the annual dinner. The club also has a member-judged short film competition.
Sharing practical ideas
Practical evenings, at the clubroom or on visits elsewhere, provide the opportunity for members to pass on hints and tips and learn more about camera techniques. Practical evenings
